It’s conference championship week in College Football!

10 conference champions will be decided between Friday and Saturday, including a rematch between the No. 5 Oregon Ducks and No. 3 Washington Huskies.

The matchup of these Pac-12 foes on October 14th was arguably the most exciting game of the 2023 season.

Both quarterbacks, Bo Nix of Oregon and Michael Penix of Washington, eclipsed the 300-yard passing mark and combined for six total touchdown passes.

Both running backs, Bucky Irving of the Ducks and Dillon Johnson of the Huskies, surpassed 100 yards on the ground and scored a rushing touchdown.

And both top receivers, Troy Franklin of Oregon and Rome Odunze of Wahsington, each hauled in eight catches for over 100 receiving yards and scored a touchdown.

It was Odunze’s second touchdown from Penix, with only 1:38 remaining on the clock, that sealed the game for the Huskies.

Oregon was leading 33-29, but was turned over on downs from the Huskies’ defense, then Penix drove his team 53 yards into the endzone on only two plays.

Wahsington won 36-33.

Hopefully, the rematch is equal in excitement to the first meeting.

In last years’ 10 conference championship games, there were 5,424 combined passing yards, equaling an average of 271.2 passing yards per team on average.

When a team’s season is on the line, they’re more likely to turn to their quarterback.

For this week of conference championships, let’s sift through these high-stakes matchups and find some valuable player props.

Bo Nix – QB, Oregon Ducks

Of all 20 teams fighting for a conference championship this weekend, the Washington Huskies’ defense is ranked the lowest on passing defense, allowing 265.2 passing yards per game.

This bodes well for Bo Nix in the Pac-12 Championship.

Nix is also the man with the shortest odds to win the Heisman Trophy, and with a big performance in a conference championship game, Nix can grab the Heisman by the throat.

Here’s a quick look at how opposing QBs have fared against Washington’s defense in the last five games:

WAS OpponentQuarterbackQB Results
StanfordAshton Daniels31/50, 367 yds, 1 TD
USCCaleb Williams27/35, 312 yds, 3 TD
UtahBryson Barnes17/30, 267 yds, 2 TD, 2 INT
Oregon StateD.J. Uiagalelei15/31, 164 yds, 0 TD, 2 INT
Washington StateCameron Ward32/48, 317 yds, 3 TD, 2 INT

All five of those quarterbacks averaged 285.4 yards and 1.8 touchdown passes.

Nix is a superior quarterback to most of the others mentioned above, and should have little issue surpassing their averages against a mediocre Huskies passing defense.

In the last five weeks for Nix, he is averaging 363.4 yards and has thrown for 18 touchdowns.

With one more big performance, Nix can potentially win the Heisman Trophy, the Pac-12 Championship, and send his team to the College Football Playoff.

It’s all on the line for Nix.

Pick: Nix – OVER 317.5 Passing Yards

Best Odds: (-114) FanDuel

Alan Bowman – QB, Oklahoma State Cowboys

Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon III has been the focal point of the Cowboys’ offense, rushing for 1,579 yards and 20 touchdowns this season, but for Saturday’s Big 12 Conference Championship, it may be up to quarterback Alan Bowman to upset the Texas Longhorns.

Texas has the NCAA’s fifth-best rushing defense, allowing only 85.3 rushing yards per game, so it’s looking like Bowman’s time to shine.

Since taking over the starting quarterback position on September 23rd, Bowman is averaging 285.9 passing yards per game, and he should be able to move the ball downfield against the Longhorns’ 96th-ranked passing defense, allowing 240.1 passing yards per game.

Texas’ defense held Texas Tech Red Raiders’ QB Behren Morton to only 88 yards and forced three interceptions last week.

In the three games prior, the Longhorns’ defense allowed 323 passing yards to Iowa State’s Rocco Becht, 302 yards to TCU’s Josh Hoover, and 327 yards to Kansas State’s Will Howard.

Bowman’s passing prop is a very reachable 246.5 passing yards on FanDuel.

Pick: Bowman – OVER 246.5 Passing Yards

Best Odds: (-114) FanDuel

Tate Rodemaker – QB, Florida State Seminoles

Florida State Seminoles’ quarterback Jordan Travis was a potential Heisman Trophy winner before he went down with an injury.

The Seminoles are averaging well over 30 points per game, they are still undefeated, so there is a lot of pressure on new QB Tate Rodemaker to try and fill the shoes of the absent Travis.

Last week, against the Florida Gators, Rodemaker only threw for 134 yards on 12-of-25 passing, but with an ACC Conference Championship on the line against the Louisville Cardinals, more may be asked of the newly appointed quarterback.

Here’s a snippet of video of Rodemaker against the Cardinals last season.

Louisville has shown lapses in the defensive secondary of late. Here’s a look at how QB’s have done against the Cardinals’ defense in the last three weeks.

LOU OpponentQuarterbackQB Results
VirginiaAnthony Colandrea20/31, 314 yds, 1 INT
MiamiTyler Van Dyke24/39, 327 yds, 1 TD
KentuckyDevin Leary12/22, 206 yds, 3 TD, 1 INT

Rodemaker has a solid duo of receiving options in Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson, and those two pass-catching playmakers can give the quarterback a yardage boost.

Pick: Rodemaker – OVER 191.5 Passing Yards
Best Odds: (-114) FanDuel

Jayden Maiava – QB, UNLV Rebels

The UNLV Rebels enter their Mountain West Conference Championship game against the Boise State Broncos with a record of 9-3.

This is the first season of at least nine wins for UNLV since 1984, when they went 11-2.

Much of the Rebels’ success can be attributed to the effective play under center from quarterback Jayden Maiava.

Maiava is averaging 219.7 passing yards per game this season, but the Freshman quarterback has stepped up his game deeper in the 2023 schedule, averaging 278 passing yards in his last six games.

The weakness of Boise State’s defense is their secondary, as the Broncos have allowed an average of 254.8 passing yards per game (116th in NCAA).

Assisting Maiava in his recent success is UNLV wide receiver Ricky White.

White has 76 catches for 1,308 yards and seven touchdowns this season, and White has collected over 100 receiving yards in each of the last five games.

Maiava and the Rebels are the new kings of the Mountain West.

Pick: Maiava – OVER 238.5 Passing Yards

Best Odds: (-114) FanDuel
