Parlay Builder

Most sportsbooks feature Parlay Builders.

What Is A Parlay Bet?

A parlay bet is a wager that is placed on multiple results. In order to win a parlay bet, all legs of the wager must win.

The odds of each leg are multiplied by each other to ultimately decide the odds of the overall parlay bet.

Because the odds of a parlay are so great and multiplied, the probability of losing is much higher as well. To combat this, some sportsbooks offer Round-Robin wagers.

A round-robin bet is similar to a parlay: only if one leg loses, you will still get a return.

A round-robin parlay is outstanding when placing first-basket bets in NBA games or anytime touchdown scorers bets in NFL contests.

Points Spread Parlay

A Points Spread Parlay is a parlay build featuring all Against the Spread (ATS) wagers.

All of the teams that you include in the parlay must cover their respective spreads. If one fails to cover, you will lose the entire parlay.

Here is an example of a 4-leg ATS parlay at PointsBet:

Over/Under Parlay

With an Over/ Under Parlay, you are focusing on the total points scored in a game rather than the winner or the spread.

You don’t have to take all overs or all unders.

Just like anything else, you can’t take both sides of one game. For example, you cant take Over 54 and Under 54 in the Cowboys-Giants game.

If all legs of your parlay win, you will win $62.77 on a $10 wager.

Parlay Betting Strategy

When building a parlay, you must put in the same work and research that you would any other wager.

You can’t just throw bets in and hope you win. You’d be asking to lose money that way.

In fact, hitting a parlay is more difficult than hitting a straight wager.

Therefore, you have to put in even more time and effort to become a successful parlay bettor.

Don’t Go Overboard

Just because you can build a 6-leg parlay with monstrous (+10,000) odds doesn’t mean you should be doing it. These are called lottery tickets and have longshot odds for a reason. You need to be absolutely perfect to hit them.

You are better off building a parlay consisting of 2-4 legs with reasonable odds. This way, you have a greater chance of cashing.

Hedge Your Bet

Different sports bettors have differing opinions about hedging.

Some are for it and some are against it. With hedging, you will guarantee yourself a profit. You can do this with parlays too.

If you have a 3-leg parlay and the first two legs have already done their job and won, you would be wise to hedge your bet and take the other side to guarantee yourself a win.

For example, if the final leg of your parlay consists of the Dallas Cowboys covering a -4 spread against the Giants, you would be wise to place a bet on the Giants at +4 to guarantee yourself a profit.

You can also wait to see how the game plays out and place a live bet to hedge.

Place Corresponding Parlay Wagers

When building a parlay, it would be wise to construct them with corresponding legs that are more or less dependent on each other to hit.

For example, if the Kansas City Chiefs are playing the Buffalo Bills and the Chiefs are favored by -6, there is a good chance that the overall points total will be high.

Let’s use 51 for this example.

When building a parlay with corresponding legs, you would take the Chiefs to cover the -6 and the Over 51. If one leg hits, there is a realistic chance the other one will hit too.

If you’re feeling froggy, you can include Patrick Mahomes to throw for 3+ touchdowns in here too.

He will likely throw for three if 51 points are scored in the game and the Chiefs are winning by at least six points.
