Borgata Betting Rules For NFL
All sportsbooks operate differently, and that’s why they all have varying sports betting rules.
A wager may be settled as a win on one sportsbook, but—depending on the terminology used—it may be graded as a loss on a different one.
If you want to err on the side of safety, you should make sure to go through all the rules of the sports you intend to bet on.
This is even more important if you’re a member of many different sportsbooks.
Knowing these distinct rules also comes in handy, as you’ll be able to compare two or more sportsbooks.
Once you have this knowledge, you can opt for the one with the more favorable rules.
With this in mind, we’re going to go through Borgata’s basic house rules, with a core focus on NFL betting.
Moneyline Rules
A moneyline bet is probably the most straightforward wager you can place on any sportsbook.
Simply put, you’re just backing a specific NFL team to win their upcoming game.
Winning margins and point spreads are thrown out of the window, so it’s extremely easy to grade and determine such wagers.
At Borgata, these basic moneyline rules still apply. The team you select simply has to win outright for your wager to be settled as a win.
Similar to most sportsbooks, Borgata also includes overtime.
So if the team you backed achieves its victory during overtime, you’ll still win your wager.

Points Spread Rules
Unlike moneyline wagers, point spreads are determined by winning or losing margins.
This margin is commonly known as the spread. If you select a team, they have to “Cover the Spread” for Borgata to settle your wager as a win.
Favorites have a handicap imposed on them; if you select a favorite, the team must win by a margin greater than the handicap for the wager to be settled as a win.
Favorites will always be denoted by the minus (-) symbol on the spread.
Underdogs, on the other hand, are always given a points advantage. If you select an underdog, they need to hold on to this virtual advantage for such a wager to be graded as a win.
If you want to spot an underdog, just check for the team with a plus (+) symbol on the spread.
If the spread is a whole number—e.g., 3, 4, 5 instead of 3.5, 4.5, 5.5—your wager will be settled as a push if the selected team wins or loses by an exact margin equal to the spread.
For example, if you back the Cowboys (-7) and they win the game 30-23, Borgata will settle this as a push. This simply means that you’ll get your stake back.
Just like moneyline wagers, Borgata also considers overtime when grading point spread bets.
Totals Rules
Totals, also known as over/under wagers, are bets that focus on the total number of points in a game.
When you bet on the over, the combined score of both NFL teams needs to surpass the sportsbook’s predetermined value.
If you instead choose to back the under, the total score must be lower than the line set by the bookie.
You can get a push if the final combined score matches the site’s over/under line.
Again, if a game goes into overtime, that period will be included in the final score.
Player/Team Props Rules
Props are wagers that tend to focus on other unique aspects of a game.
Such bets really don’t focus on anything specific, which allows them to manifest in various ways.
Bettors can therefore place props focusing on the game, one specific team, a player, or even an extremely niche statistic.
Because prop betting is a boundless alternative, a site needs to set rules regarding how such bets are determined and settled.
For bettors who are into game props, here are a few of Borgata’s house rules:
- Any time-based prop will be determined using the league’s official source box scores.
- Any prop bet revolving around penalties will only be based on accepted penalties.
- Sacks props are also determined and settled using the NFL’s official league source.
- Coach challenge prop bets do not include booth reviews.
Here are the most common house rules regarding player props:
- For a player prop bet to be in play, the selected player must be listed as active by the NFL’s official league source. Props on inactive players are voided.
- The sole exception to the above rule is in the quarterback prop markets. In such props, the players in question need to be starters for wagers to have action.
Parlay Rules
Parlays are wagers featuring a combination of two or more straight bets.
Each individual selection in a parlay is known as a leg. For a bettor to win a parlay, all of the selected legs need to be accurate.
If one selection is wrong, Borgata will settle the entire parlay as a loss.
For bettors looking to spice things up, there’s also the option of placing same-game parlay (SGP) bets at Borgata.
These function like normal parlays, but the major difference is that all selections in a same-game parlay originate from a single game.
To win an SGP, all your predictions must turn out as predicted. Of course, other common rules apply.
For example, you can’t include two moneyline bets in one SGP.
First To Score TD Rules
This is an extremely straightforward wager.
Simply back the player most likely to score the game’s first touchdown. Guess right, and you’ll win your bet.
Though it’s different from an anytime touchdown scorer bet—where you back a player to score at any point during the game—most of the same rules still apply. These are:
- Overtime touchdowns are included.
- In postponed or canceled games, bets will stand on any touchdowns that have been scored.
- In a first TD scorer bet, the player you select must be the one to score the very first touchdown of the game.
- In anytime TD scorer bets, your selected player doesn’t need to score first. However, the player still has to notch a touchdown during the game for the bet to cash.
- The player in possession of the ball who passes the goal line is the one who’ll determine the bet and not the passer who passed the ball for the touchdown.
Quality Of NFL Betting Line / Odds Borgata Sportsbook
Most of the NFL lines and odds offered by Borgata are slightly above average.
On some occasions, you’ll find highly competitive prices. Other times, the prices will be moderate and won’t be that impressive.
Despite this fluctuation, Borgata is still a solid choice for most sports bettors. For starters, there are plenty of unique NFL markets that you won’t find anywhere else.
On top of this, the abundance of quality promos—which we’ll discuss in the next section—is enough to make up for its occasional misses.
