MLB Best Player Props Today – April 25th, 2025

It’s a full slate of action for MLB player props today, but we’ve got some weather concerns for a couple of games, so we’ll have to avoid those matchups due to rain delay risk.

Today’s player props focus on three aces in great spots, including Yoshinobu Yamamoto vs the Pittsburgh Pirates, Michael King vs the Tampa Bay Rays, and Logan Gilbert vs the Miami Marlins.

Let’s try to get back on track with three winners this week. We’re keeping it simple by targeting three of the best pitchers in baseball right now. Read on to find my best MLB player props for April 25th, 2025.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-140) at DraftKings

Yamamoto has gotten off to a terrific start this season, putting up a 0.93 ERA and 0.86 WHIP with a 35.2% strikeout rate, which is a 6.7% increase from last year.

This is backed by advanced metrics, as Yamamoto has a 13.7% swinging-strike rate which ranks 16th in MLB, so he’s been able to miss bats at a high rate.

The key for Yamamoto has been his splitter, which has been dominant this season. According to Baseball Savant, this pitch has induced a 51.4% whiff rate. This is a significant increase from last season, where it was at 38.6%.

This has helped the Dodgers righty rack up nine or more strikeouts in three of his last four starts. Two of those games were in tough matchups vs the Rangers and Cubs.

There’s a good chance that Yamamoto will be able to keep this up against the Pirates, who have put up a 22.7% strikeout rate vs righties this year, which ranks 21st in MLB.

Despite an expensive price of (-140) odds at DraftKings, this is still a good value compared to the rest of the market, as this is as short as (-160) at Caesars.

Michael King Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-113) at FanDuel

King has been fantastic for the Padres this year, registering a 2.57 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with a 27.2% strikeout rate. This is a pitcher who has been much more effective at home.

Last season, King posted a 32.5 K% in 78.2 innings at Petco Park. That’s a major increase compared to his 23.5 K% in 95 innings on the road.

This is a trend that has continued so far this year, where King has 22 strikeouts in 16.2 innings at home compared to only nine strikeouts in 11.2 innings on the road.

It’s a good spot for King to keep it rolling at home, as he’s taking on a Rays team that has registered a 23.4 K% in the last seven days, which is tied for eighth-most during that stretch.

Despite King’s dominance at home and exploitable matchup, we only have to pay a (-113) price on a reasonable bar of 6.5 strikeouts at FanDuel.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see this price move towards (-130) or shorter odds as we get closer to game time.

Logan Gilbert Over 18.5 Outs (+130) at DraftKings

Gilbert has established himself as one of the best pitchers in MLB, featuring a 2.63 ERA and 0.88 WHIP in 27.1 innings. This is backed by advanced metrics, as highlighted by his 1.91 SIERA and 32.4 K-BB%.

This is an innings-eater who has eclipsed 185 IP in three consecutive seasons. This makes me feel comfortable to take over 18.5 outs, since this is a pitcher who can go deep in games.

In fact, Gilbert went 6.1+ IP in 17 of 33 starts last season, eight of which came at home. This is a good spot for Gilbert to do so again in an exploitable matchup vs the Marlins.

Miami has posted a 94 wRC+ vs righties this year, which is tied for 23rd in MLB. It’s hard to see them causing issues for Gilbert in a pitcher-friendly environment at T-Mobile Park.

You have to love getting a (+130) price on this prop at DraftKings, as this is as short as (+104) at Caesars.
