It’s been a challenging week in the NBA, marked by a surge in injuries affecting some of the league’s top stars. Now, we can add LeBron James and Jalen Brunson to that list.

Both players are expected to miss multiple weeks, which is particularly significant given their heavy workload this season.

The Knicks have already felt the impact of Brunson’s absence, losing their first game without him. He is the heart and soul of the team, and I’ll delve deeper into their situation below.

The Lakers concluded their loss to Boston without LeBron, but tonight marks their first full game without him.

They’re currently dealing with several injuries, making the next two weeks crucial for the team, especially with Luka Doncic at the helm.

The question is whether he can keep the Lakers competitive without key players. We’re deep into the playoff push, and maintaining a top-three spot in the West is vital for the Lakers.

With these injuries in mind, get into my player prop picks today.

Note: Odds were correct at the time of writing.

D’Angelo Russell Over 5.5 Assists (-115) at bet365

D’Angelo Russell is set for another revenge game against the Lakers, where he continues to be the ball-dominant force for the pesky Nets.

In their first matchup this season, Russell exceeded expectations with eight assists back in January.

Russell seems to thrive against his former team. Over his two stints in Los Angeles, he has faced the Lakers 11 times, recording six or more assists in nine of those games.

He always puts on a show against them, and I expect more of the same tonight.

The Lakers are taking the court for their first game without LeBron James, and they’ll also be missing Rui Hachimura, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Jaxson Hayes, while Luka Doncic is questionable.

This could make for a closer game than anticipated.

Russell should see significant minutes against a Lakers team missing its top defenders. Since joining the Nets, he has averaged 5.7 assists per game in about 24.4 minutes of action.

With the Nets essentially in tank mode, these are the kinds of games that are ripe for betting. There’s little to play for, and Russell always brings his A-game against his former employer.

For a longer odds option, you can find Russell to have 8+ assists at +280 on FanDuel.

OG Anunoby Under 2.5 Threes Made (-120) at bet365

As the week of injuries continues, Jalen Brunson will miss his second consecutive game while recovering from an ankle sprain.

In their first game without him, the Knicks’ offense struggled, with three different starters attempting more than seven three-pointers.

OG Anunoby’s three-point attempts have increased over the past month and a half, but he went just 2-8 from beyond the arc on Saturday. So, why am I leaning towards the under for him in this matchup?

Let’s start with the Knicks’ performance without Brunson. Since joining New York, Anunoby has played four games alongside Brunson, and his three-pointers made in those games were 1, 2, 1, and 3.

Without Brunson, the Knicks lack the spacing that makes them so good on the offensive side of the court.

Anyone familiar with the Knicks or Anunoby knows he’s not a primary creator. He excels when set in the corner, waiting for a playmaker like Brunson to find him.

This matchup against the Kings is intriguing for New York.

Sacramento is defensively weak, but they have two on-ball players who will demand a lot of attention from Anunoby, the Knicks’ best defender.

Given his defensive focus and a tough shooting night on Saturday, I like the under for OG Anunoby.

Jaylen Brown Over 24.5 Points (-120) at bet365

Last year’s Finals MVP has experienced an inconsistent season. He averaged 24.5 points over the first two months, followed by a slump in January with an average of 21.3 points, failing to reach 30 in any game.

However, he seems to be regaining his form, finding the offensive rhythm that helped Boston win the title last summer.

Since the All-Star break, he has averaged 25.1 points over eight games. The Celtics might be without his key partner, Jayson Tatum, which could further elevate his role.

In his last ten games without Tatum, Brown has scored 24+ points in eight of them.

He will be the primary option against a Utah team lacking formidable wing defenders, making this an excellent opportunity to continue his upward trend and prepare for another deep playoff run.

A crucial factor in Brown’s recent success is his improved shot selection. This is reflected in his field goal percentage, which jumped from 44.8% in January to 51.9% in February.

Given his improved performance, the potential absence of Tatum, and a favorable matchup against Utah, this is a great spot for Brown.

Additionally, you’re getting the best price in the market and two points compared to a strong book like FanDuel.
