After the recent legalization of single-game sports wagering in Canada, many North American sportsbooks are expected to make the short trek up north.

In Ontario specifically, the sports betting market is set to launch in April 2022.

This is good news for local bettors who no longer have to rely on illegal offshore sites to bet on their favorite teams, as they can now opt for legal, safer alternatives.

DraftKings, a sportsbook that’s grown from its humble origins as a small DFS site to a sports wagering behemoth, is one of the books that’s expected to lead the Canadian charge.

To help new Canadian bettors out, here’s everything you need to know about DraftKings’ launch in the Great White North.

DraftKings Sportsbook hasn’t announced an official launch date, but we’re sure they are going to be venturing into the Canadian market.

Interestingly, DraftKings already has a presence in Canada.

Fantasy sports players have been able to use the daily fantasy sports section of DraftKings since February 2021.

This was after DraftKings and the NFL decided to include Canada in their fantasy sports partnership, and the site ended up going live just ahead of Super Bowl LV.

DraftKings Ontario Top 3 Features

It’s safe to say that DraftKings is a world-class sportsbook.

Because of this, bettors who join the site can look forward to an array of unique and intriguing features that aren’t available on many other sites.

Here are a few such notable features that will surely excite new bettors:

  • Live Betting – Aside from pre-game wagers, bettors can also bet on live sports events.
  • Early Cash Out – If you’re winning your wager but you’re worried that something may happen later on during the game, you can use DraftKings’ cash-out feature to settle your bet before the game ends.
  • Same-Game Parlays – Bettors can use the same-game parlay feature to create a parlay that contains multiple selections from the same event. Play Now

DraftKings Canada Vs. OLG PROLINE+.

PROLINE+, which was launched by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) Corp, was the first legal online sportsbook to go live in Ontario.

After the recent legalization of single-game wagering. PROLINE has been ever-present in Canada since the ’90s and has been offering retail and parlay wagering to Canadian bettors even before the recent change in legislation.

With PROLINE+, bettors can now place online and single-game wagers.

Since other sites are expected to launch in Ontario soon, bettors may wonder how PROLINE+ stacks up against the likes of DraftKings.

Both sites cover the major betting markets, but DraftKings comes out on top when it comes to niche sports.

Also, PROLINE+ doesn’t offer appealing odds, but that’s something we’ve come to expect from sportsbooks backed by state lotteries.

Regarding banking methods, PROLINE+ has very few options—at the time of writing, there are only three deposit methods and one withdrawal method.

Obviously, this limits the number of users who can opt for the site. Again, DraftKings has a plethora of banking methods, which makes it easy for bettors to access their funds on their site.

Though it doesn’t look like a fair comparison, DraftKings is definitely the better of the two sites.

We’re hoping that the increased competition from other operators helps PROLINE+ step up its game.

Even if OLG does nothing to improve the site, sports bettors will at least have other alternatives from April 4th once other sportsbooks enter the Ontario sports betting market.
